After another delicious breakfast, we packed up and headed to the other side of the Quabbin Reservoir to check out the dam and the park.
found a happy, little friend upon entering the park
Enfield Lookout - Enfield was one of four towns that were removed in order to make the reservoir
Next stop was the Goodnough Dike (actually a dam) on the southeastern side of the Quabbin
Next stop was a beautiful meadow
Next stop was the Observation Tower on Quabbin Mountain - we couldn't go in it, but the view was amazing and the building was pretty cool.
Next stop was the Winsor Dam
they had several of these animatronic coyotes to scare away birds
back side of the dam - can see tiny people walking along the road below
hello, friend
The DCR had a visitor center so we poked around and learned about the aqueduct and the history of the 4 towns that were flooded to make the reservoir
After a lovely drive through Amherst and an awesome lunch of sushi and Pad Thai, we went to Magic Wings Butterfly Garden! Sam had a friend on his arm for much of the visit - you can tell he was pretty excited about it!!!
